The road distance of 540kms from Hyderabad to Madanapalli is covered in 11 hours by a bus. I decided to visit Madanapalli by bus, as this is one of the cost effective ways of travelling. I quickly booked online bus tickets from redbus and chose to journey on a multi axle Ac semi sleeper bus. The bus reservation portal lowered by hassles largely. My whole idea of spending a 2 days trip to this place from Hyderabad was to fulfil my shopping desires and see the hill stations. I have heard that Madanapalli is famous for its high quality of silk. There are quite a few interesting stories regarding the origin of this place. During ancient times the town had an altogether different name. It was only during the end of the 19th century that people started referring to it as Madanapalli. It is said that this place has one of the highest revenue divisions of the country and it is so high that it can cover almost one half of the entire Chittor district. The town is not known to a lot of tourists but is now seeing steady growth in the number of tourists visiting every year. It is quite well known in the country for serving as the centre for agricultural activities and growing good quality vegetables and fruits. It is one of the most preferred places for cultivation of tomato and is also known to serve it as a delicacy. When you are in Madanapalli make sure to visit Horsley hills which serves as the go to summer destination for the locals here!! The town has a historical significance since it is believed that the Indian National Anthem was translated from Bengali to English here!!
